KASABIAN - SELF TITLED
This English rock band formed in 1999 and has put out 4 records to date. They named the band after Linda Kasabian, a key witness in the Manson murder trial. Their 2004 Self Titled album probably has the most hit singles, making it my favorite.

PiL (PUBLIC IMAGE LTD.) - GREATEST HITS SO FAR
Post - punk band formed in 1978 by none other than the ex front man of the Sex Pistols - Jonny Rotten (John Lydon). John gave this band a more experimental sound. This is a greatest hits collection 1978-1990. The band split in 1993 and reformed in 2009. A new record (This Is PiL) has been recorded and is ready for a May 2012 release under the bands own label "Pil Official." Can't wait for the tour!

THE BIG PINK - A BRIEF HISTORY OF LOVE
I discovered this band while shopping inside a sporting goods store a couple years ago. lol "Dominos" was playing loudly as a roamed thru the place looking for a track jacket. I pulled out my Whackberry and Shazamed this RAD electronic/rock Brit duo, listened to a few more songs via YouTube, then headed to the best record store in the world, (Amoeba) and bought this album. $9.99 well spent. I've been a big fan ever since and was lucky enough to catch them on tour a little over a year ago. "Dominos", "Velvet", "Frisk", "Too Young To Love", and "Tonight" are my favorites, but the whole record is damn good. IMO. Can't wait for the January release of the band's sophomore record, Future This.

VHS OR BETA - NIGHT ON FIRE
They released their first record "Le Funk" in 01'. Since then they've put out "Night On Fire" (04') "Bring On The Comets" (07') "Feel It When You Know It" (09') and newly released "Diamonds and Death" (11')
I actually just discovered this band recently when a friend's company presented one of their shows in West Hollywood. (Music Dealers) It's really hard to describe the genre, (obviously they're indie) but I guess they could be compared to bands like Interpol, She Wants Revenge, The Bravery... only better. Dancy-er. Catchy-er. Fun-er. Yeah you get the point. Check them out.

JOY DIVISION - SUBSTANCE
My favorite Joy Division record. Contains all the best hits...although many may disagree. "Closer" is also a fan favorite. In the early 00's many bands tried to follow the post punk sound Joy Division started, (ie: Snow Patrol, Interpol, She Wants Revenge) but there will NEVER be another Joy Division. After the death of front man, Ian Curtis, the band changed the order of the band and became "New Order."

CRYSTAL CASTLES - CRYSTAL CASTLES
ELECTRONIC OVERLOAD. CRYSTAL CASTLES EXPLODED ON THE SCENE WHEN THEY OPENED FOR METRIC IN 2007. THEY RELEASED THEIR DEBUT RECORD THE FOLLOWING YEAR. SINCE THEN THEY'VE BEEN ON HEADLINING TOURS, RELEASED A SOPHOMORE RECORD, AND PLAYED MUSIC FESTIVALS LIKE COACHELLA. (WHICH I MISSED :/) FORTUNATE FOR ME, THEY WILL BE PLAYING THE OSHEAGA FESTIVAL JULY 31ST IN MONTREAL. MUST.BOOK.FLIGHT&HOTEL.ASAP.
BLAKE MILLER IS AWESOME. LEAD SINGER, GUITARIST, WRITER, DJ, PRODUCER.. THE GUY DOES IT ALL. WHAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION ABOUT MOVING UNITS BACK IN 03' WAS BLAKE'S VOICE, AND THE HEAVY BASS HOOKS. THIS BAND HAS HAD A CULT FOLLOWING SINCE BEFORE THEY EVEN RELEASED THEIR FIRST FULL LENGTH RECORD. HEXES FOR EXES IS PRETTY MUCH A FOLLOW UP ALBUM THAT EMPHASIZES THEIR UNIQUE SOUND EVEN MORE THAN THE FIRST RECORD. ALMOST EVERY TRACK ON THE ALBUM IS ABOUT AN EX. EVERYONE CAN RELATE TO AT LEAST ONE SONG.

MC IMPRINT - THE FIRST IMPRESSION
REAL WEST COAST HIP HOP. HELL, REAL HIP HOP IN GENERAL.
JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF HIM, DOESN'T MEAN FOR A SECOND YOU SHOULD PASS HIM UP AND THINK, "YEAH RIGHT, ANOTHER WHACK ASS MC." NO, NO, MY FRIENDS, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. SOME SERIOUS TALENT HERE. VERY IMPRESSIVE SONG WRITING, GREAT VOICE, AND AMAZING PRODUCTION. (BY THE OPTIMIST) YOU CAN FEEL THE PASSION AND THE REDEMPTION IN THE LYRICS. EVERY SONG ON THE ALBUM IS SUPER CATCHY. EVERY SINGLE ONE COULD EASILY BE A RADIO HIT. GRAB THIS ALBUM ON ITUNES AND SPREAD THE WORD. YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID. PLUS, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO SAY YOU LISTENED TO IMPRINT BACK WHEN HE WAS FIRST STARTING OUT. IF YOU WOULD LIKE A COPY, PLEASE CONTACT ME.

M.I.A - KALA
THIS RECORD HAS BEEN OUT FOR OVER 3 YEARS, AND I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO BUYING IT. WORTH EVERY PENNY OF THE $12.99 I PAID. "PAPER PLANES" MADE HER FAMOUS, BUT THE ENTIRE ALBUM IS FANTASTIC. AS FAR AS MY FAVORITE SONG GOES, "JIMMY" REALLY DOES IT FOR ME. M.I.A IS TRULY GENRE DEFYING.

SLEIGH BELLS - TREATS
RELEASED JUNE 1, 2010
THIS BROOKLYN GUY/GIRL DUO IS IN YOUR FACE FROM START TO FINISH. THEIR UNIQUE SOUND GOT THEM LOTS OF BUZZ, AND THEY MADE JUST ABOUT EVERYONE'S LIST OF TOP 10 "BEST ALBUMS OF 2010." (A LITTLE BIT OF MTV BUZZ DIDN'T HURT EITHER.) IT ALL STARTED IN 2008, WHEN DEREK MILLER WAS WAITING TABLES AT A BROOKLYN BRAZILIAN RESTAURANT, AND MET MISS ALEXIS KRAUSS THAT WAS SITTING IN HIS STATION, AND THE REST IS HISTORY.

THE SOUNDS - CROSSING THE RUBICON
RELEASED JUNE 2ND 2009
THE BAND'S 3RD RECORD DONE COMPLETELY ON THEIR OWN. NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR LABELS, THEY LEFT THOSE BEHIND THAT WEREN'T OUT FOR THEIR BEST INTEREST AND TOOK ON THIS PROJECT ALONE, AND PAID FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. HENCE THE NAME, "CROSSING THE RUBICON" ( INTO THE POINT OF NO RETURN) AROUND THIS TIME THE SOUNDS TOURED WITH NO DOUBT, AND GAINED AN EVEN WIDER FAN BASE. THIS RECORD DEFINITELY HAS A DIFFERENT FEEL TO IT. THE BAND HAS DEFINITELY GROWN UP A LOT SINCE THE RELEASE OF SOPHOMORE ALBUM "DYING TO SAY THIS TO YOU", BUT STILL HAVE THAT ORIGINAL SPARK THAT GOT SO MANY HOOKED IN THE BEGINNING. THE SOUNDS KEEP THE 80'S VERY MUCH ALIVE.

LADYTRON - LIGHT & MAGIC
2004 release
This is my favorite Ladytron album. Falls 2nd to 2005's Witching Hour.In 2001, the first fruits of what would become the new electronic-rock movement began to fall. LADYTRON’s debut, "604", was an integral part of that first strike. Apristine, analog adventure of sound and substance, the album would go on to influence the genre itself, while the group quietly made a global impact both visually and stylistically.

THE FAINT -Fasciinatiion
In 2008, The Faint released their first album in four years ''Fasciinatiion'' through their own, newly-formed label, blank.wav. ''Fasciinatiion'', The Faint's fifth album, is the first in the band's ten-year history to be written, recorded, produced, art directed and released entirely on their own. ''Fasciinatiion'' is an album that draws on many defining facets of The Faint's sound, while remaining completely different from anything else they've put out. A record whose themes include predictions and the future, tabloid culture, the allure of what may never be, childhood lost and more, ''Fasciinatiion'' sounds as if it's been beamed in from a satellite whose sole purpose is observing, and making sense of, the details of every day existence. In certain ways, the album is the most mechanical and precise of the band's work: The vocals sounds less human than ever before; the bass lines are more mangled, keyboards spiral and squeal out of control; electronic pings and stabs invade the melodies; the lyrical anxiety and disdain of previous albums pervades almost every song on ''Fasciinatiion''. Opener ''Get Seduced'' is The Faint at their best, the song's critique of celebrity culture matched with one of the finest choruses they've ever written. First single, ''The Geeks Were Right'', draws on the tenets of futurist literature and sliding, siren-call guitars. ''Fulcrum and Lever'' marries ambient noise with space references, alienation and a stuttering, flexing beat, while ''Mirror Error'' explores identity and consciousness within its perfect, propulsive electro-pop. Closer ''A Battle Hymn for Children'' flinches with nervous rhythms against resentment of the future to be inherited and keyboards that sound like flailing voices (or is it flailing voices that sound like keyboards? On ''Fasciinatiion'', one can never tell).

YELLE - POP UP
Yelle (a feminised acronym of YEL, "You enjoy life") is a French singer from the town of Saint-Brieuc, Bretagne.
2008 album including single "A cause des garcons" (cover from the band A cause des garcons).
If you like fun, dancey electro-pop, and you don't mind the lyrics being in French, then I would highly recommend you check out Yelle!

DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH? - YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE GETTING YOURSELF INTO
You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into is the debut album from Reading electro-indie rockers Does It Offend You Yeah? If you're a fan of Justice, Daft Punk, The Faint, Peaches...anything electronic, you're in for a treat. Not a boring track on the record. I saw them play once in L.A when they opened for Kele of Bloc Party, but unfortunately, their singer was sick and unable to perform. Instead of canceling, the band played without him, and just stuck to all their non-vocal songs. While it was still a great set, I still NEED to see them again and hear my favorite songs! I hear they're working on their sophomore album.. which means another possible tour soon!

FEVER RAY - SELF TITLED
Fever Ray is Karin Dreijer Andersson's solo project away from The Knife, the band she created with her brother. The Knife has been around for quite awhile, but got brief buzz on Myspace a few years back. People that don't listen to indie, electronic, shoe gaze, etc. suddenly were turned on to The Knife because of the home page ad that featured this Swedish brother - sister duo. "Heartbeats" won them thousands of fans in the States. Now, if you've never listened to The Knife, I would recommend you check out Deep Cuts and Silent Shout. Karin has said that after the last The Knife record, she would retire. I'm glad that was a lie.
